1. What is Somatic?
Rather than staying only in the mental or analytical space, we include the body, sensations, emotions, posture, impulses, to access deeper layers of insight and movement.
This practice is rooted in many influences : somatic psychology, neuroscience, mindfulness, and body-based therapies.
Some of the tools that might show up in a session include Focusing, Felt Sensing, Embodying, Orienting, Environmental Feedback… and often, something unique we create together, in response to what’s present.
It’s not about fixing yourself, it’s about creating space for something to shift, unfold, or clarify from within.
2. What it’s not
It’s not advice-giving, performance-based, or about pushing through. It’s not therapy, though it can be therapeutic. We don’t try to fix you, we explore with curiosity and care so that something real can shift from within.
3. How is it different from regular (talk-based) coaching or therapy?
Talk-based coaching often stays in the mind and focuses on goals or mindset. Somatic coaching includes the body as an intelligent part of the process. Unlike therapy, it doesn't diagnose or treat mental health conditions. It supports your present experience and what wants to emerge.
4. What happens during a session?
Sessions last about an hour, and we can work either on a one-time need, or go deeper over several sessions around a specific issue or desire, such as something emotional, creative, relational or existential.
All sessions take place online, which brings its own advantages. Being in your own environment often makes it easier to stay connected to your bodily needs, regulate your energy, and feel more at ease, without the pressure to "perform" or adapt to a new space.
Each session follows a gentle structure that adapts to what’s present for you in the moment. We usually begin by checking in with what’s alive right now. This can include sensations, thoughts, emotions or intentions. We then move from there, following your rhythm, your curiosity and the intelligence of your body.
5. Are sessions online or in person?
All sessions are online. Being in your own environment often helps you feel safer and more connected to your body, and makes it easier to tend to your needs in real time.
6. What language are sessions in?
Sessions can be in English or French. You can switch languages anytime during a session if that feels more natural.
7. Do I need to feel connected to my body for this to work?
Not at all. Many people come feeling disconnected, numb or unsure. We start from where you are, with kindness, and build connection gently and respectfully.
8. Do I have to move or do physical exercises?
No. Movement might happen if it supports the process, but there’s no need to do anything intense or effortful. Sometimes stillness, rest, or simply noticing a breath is all that’s needed.
9. How do I know if this is right for me?
This space might support you if any of the following resonate:
-
You’ve done a lot of thinking, and now your body wants a turn
-
You’re navigating a big transition, creative, emotional or relational
-
You want to create something (a project, a life, a version of you) but feel stuck or scattered
-
Therapy helped, but something deeper still wants to move
-
You want to reconnect with your creativity, your sensuality or your voice
-
You feel “too much” or “not enough”, sometimes both, and want to change that story
